]]> I have been blogging for few years now, so I know the definition of blogging, however, blogging is not just a passion, it is not about what you like, it is becoming a business online and a lucrative one at that.

Don’t mind me, but I have seen few douche bags say that they are blogging and create keyword based blogs to get traffic and money, and on top of that they write about passionate blogging.

Though I wouldn’t care less about it, I personally have a blog which targets a lot of things but unlike them, this is the fucking disclaimer I wanted to put in before some trolls who comment on this blog get to it. As if they don’t think I know where they are from and who they are.

However, let me get this straight, this is my blog, this is my passion, this is where I write very passionately about, and don’t post for weeks or for that matter post things after they stay in drafts for 10 days or 1001 days. I really enjoy writing here, not that I don’t enjoy writing on my tech blog, but there is a difference between a blog and a business and I know it and accept it.

For me the tech blog is a business along with a blog which I nourish with my own touch. For me this is a blog and less of a business.

I find quite a few folks redefining the blogging industry, bullshit, creating a cluster of blogs and cross-posting things on each and every blog does not make a blog. It makes clutter, which in simple terms means garbage or in more simpler terms means rubbish.

Creating multiple blogs to target keywords is not blogging, it is called bullshit garbage where you gather shit from your mind and dump. Though this has been successful, I would rather not call it a blog, I would not call it passion, I would call it a business, so learn to use the right term douche bags.

For the trolls, if you do not have the guts to use your name in your comments, go and fuck yourself and get a life, do not write comments without having the guts to write it with your own identity.

]]> I have been asked this question repeatedly, by people I have met as to when I would become a pro-blogger. Let me tell you that I have had to tell them the same thing again and again and this is why I am writing this post.

Pro-Blogging has been largely misrepresented with the fact that someone who has quit his job and does blogging is a pro-blogger. This is far from the truth, a pro-blogger is not necessarily someone whose only job is blogging, it could also be someone who writes for several blogs or someone who writes pretty often.

You are can be termed a pro-blogger the day you start making money from your blog, it could be 1 cent, it could be $10000, it is all the same. There is no difference in pro-blogging and making money from blogging.

Another misconception I busted was the fact where people asked me when I would become a pro-blogger, the reason they thought I was not one was because I had a job. However, I repeatedly told them and will tell you too, pro-blogging has nothing to do with you having a fulltime job or otherwise.

Pro-blogging is basically how you manage your time for your blog, how much time you can give to it and what you can derive from it. You can on any given day spend 8 hours at work and 8 hours on your blog and still be called a NON pro-blogger. The matter of fact is that people think only people who have left their jobs and are doing fulltime blogging are pro-bloggers or even someone who manages a successful blog.

To be very frank I do not want anyone to term me as a pro-blogger, nor do I want to achieve a term which is really become a fad, it is what is in your mind that matters. I make a healthy amount of money from both my job and my blog. I spend enough time on both my job and my blog, so does that mean I am a amateur blogger?

Stop using terms which were derived from some absurd place just because it seems appropriate. Use your brain to decide what you are, not some things which have been there all the time.

FYI, I will NEVER EVER term myself as a pro-blogger, because even if my fulltime job was blogging, I would still be doing a JOB that can become monotonous and boring. Blogging is not a paradise, it is just another job, so treat it like one.

]]> What is life when you do not have joy? What is life when you do not have the privilege of failing? I say privilege of failing, because only those who try to do things outside the box usually fail, see how I added usually.

Yes, it is a real fact that I have learnt from my mistakes, those failures have made me do better and continue doing better in life, may it be my personal life, work or for that matter blogging.

Failures sum up my experience. The first one I recollect is where I went wayward and almost messed up my life when I was between 14-18, however, thanks to my family back then I got back on track and continued my life to bring it on the right track. However, that mistake led me to ensure that my life would not be flaky again.

I also failed a lot in the past year or so in my personal life, however, thanks to the support of a very loved one I have managed to change myself and become a better person. Again, those mistakes made me realize what I was doing wrong and propped me up to correct them and ensure that I do not do them again.

Without those failures I would not have been able to get back on the right track, I would have continued doing what I did, studying, sucking or whatever, but nothing would have changed, it would have been just another life. However, I have learnt how to bounce out of failures and be successful. I have you might call something as "mastered the art of bucking up my ass after failures".

My first failure propped me up do do something better and within a span of the next 4 years, I bought my own apartment. Can you believe it? Well, I know you can’t but neither could I and neither could anyone who knew me between the ages of 14-18, but I did.

My most recent and most important failure of my life has been the one I really wanted to rectify and ensure that I do not repeat, I won’t disclose it, but I put in all my efforts and made sure it was successful, and with that I hope to have that success all my life soon.

On the whole this changed my perspective about things and I took failure as I would take success, taking something out of both these things and moving ahead. It is not that I have always failed to succeed, I have had success outright, however, I do ensure that my failures do not bog me down and that I get up from it and do better. There is a saying called "A man bounces back faster when he is down" and I try to make sure that I follow it to the core.

My Blogging career has been the same, miffed with success, failures, success, failures and more failures. Even with more and more failures, I did not lose hope, with no money, I did not leave blogging. I continued doing it giving time to improve on my mistakes and also improving on what I think should be put into the right place.

These efforts are now showing and I am pretty happy with it. I strived a lot for this and I was able to convert mistakes into profitable things from which I learnt. I hope to continue this learning curve and hope to make most of both the good things and bad things.

Blogging has been quite an experience for me, I made so many friends across the world that I would not have imagined otherwise. I met a lot of people too this time on my trip to India and will always cherish those memories, without blogging I would not have known those people and that in itself has me drooling over it.

I love my life, I love my job, I love blogging, I also love my family and the most important I love my someone special and hope to be hers forever in the next few months, that would make me happier than any other achievement I have made in my life. I love you bacchu, miss you too.

P.S. I am not saying that you should fail in order to succeed, however, I am saying that you should succeed and learn from your failures and not treat it as a dejection.

]]> I have been a blogger for almost 4 years now, and in that journey I have seen several ups and downs, high points and low points and more.

When I first started out with blogging, it was really fun, there were incentives to write, most of them not related to money. However, over a period of time, you start to innovate and do things which not many people like. It is more of a personal decision keeping your readers in mind.

In the same way, I have innovated things with Techie Buzz, turning it from a single-author blog to a news site where 25 authors write. Now, this change was not instant and there were several transition periods in between, some of the changes were not easy to come by, and we as a group have consulted several times on the changes and how it would affect our readers.

But in the end, change is not always accepted and people will eventually adapt to it. It has been almost a year now and I see people accepting the changes and that has shown in the growth of readers and regular traffic. In addition to that, there has also been an increase in content sharing by users.

Now, there are a few subset of people who come up and say that we are a shitty site, however, I tend to disagree on that, agreed that we source news, but we rewrite it and publish it giving our own views. In the last few months, I have come across bloggers and readers from India who have a certain wrong mentality when it comes to blogging or news.

I will lay down the pointers below and give my explanation as to why that thinking is wrong.

People come up to me and say that your posts are always linking to other blogs or new sites: Well, first of all that is not always true, there is so much content on the site which is well researched and brought to the fore front. We do blend our content with news and write our own take on it, and do not just simply copy paste stuff from others.

Secondly, we are not ashamed to tell readers about our sources. We are in-fact proud to do that, even if we use images from an outside site. I have seen several bloggers who do not do that, I mean what is the point of passing off news as your own when you have not spent time researching for it, other than seeing it on another site and slapping it as your own. It is the single biggest problem I have with many bloggers.

And thirdly, what is the point of adding via links so small that it shows you are ashamed to credit your sources. Change your mentality, grow up and learn that the Internet is build on inter-webs and linking, credit your sources and don’t be ashamed if you are writing news which was originally broken by someone else, add value to it and make it your own, rather than passing it off as your own.

Open your eyes and see how news sites in US work, most of the one’s in India are ashamed to credit sources, which is really a down market thing to do.

We do a good job of bringing news to our readers and will continue to do so, our team is capable enough of writing good content, so the thought that people have about us linking to others does not hold value to me.

We post too much content: Another complaint I got from few people was that we post too much content, however, let’s face it we are a news site and will post content as it happens and not wait for it to stale out before posting it.

Again, we put our own views into the posts we write and do not just copy paste snippets from other sites. Thirdly, our reader base has almost tripled since we started writing more content, so that goes on to show that readers like what we do.

We are a Crappy blog: Well, we are not a blog anymore, we are more of a news site. Most Indian users are not used to news sites. Most of the Indian blogs out there are really good, there is no doubt about it, I thoroughly enjoy reading them, but for me doing the same thing was like stagnating growth, I grew up from that mentality, and it looks like it is hard for many of my Indian friends to digest.

The Indian mentality is that tech blogs have to be about how-to, social networking, software etc, the adaptation of news sites as blogs is still a long way to go. I am not saying that it will never happen, but stop calling blogs which make a transition to news crappy.

Since I moved the main theme behind the site, we have seen tremendous growth in both regular readers and traffic. We are one of the few Indian blogs which make it to global tech resources like TechMeme and are also linked by high quality news papers, high quality tech sites and more, including by Huff Post. If we were crappy we would not have achieved global recognitions by these news papers and sites.

Summarizing: I follow some very high quality blogs from India, and they are no doubt very good. I transitioned my site to be something which is recognized and known globally, many of the news we write is breaking news which no one has covered.

I am not saying that I am doing something big, I am doing something I have focus on and have planned out. We are no longer a blog and I am not trying to change people’s mentality towards that, those who read us know about it, which is why they are still there. I am proud to have achieved so much with this blog and will continue to strive hard to make it a Indian news site, which focuses on both Indian content and global content and is recognized as one of the top sites in the world.

Being one of the Indian sites, which is recognized as a trusted news resource across the world will give me more happiness than anything else. We are halfway there, the rest of the journey will continue. However, I still denounce they way people are stuck with a narrow-minded approach towards blogging in India.

]]> I am going to make a trip to India after more than a year, and I am super excited about it for several reasons, some of which I will keep to myself :-P .

However, I have been planning to visit and meet several people I have been interacting with on Twitter and who have been writing on Techie Buzz, and hopefully it should be great experience.

On this trip I plan to visit, New Delhi, Agra, Bangalore, Chennai and Kolkata. Phew, it is a tough schedule so I would hopefully get to sleep on the flights at-least, anyways, here is how I am planning my trip.

Mumbai -> Delhi -> Agra -> Delhi -> Bangalore -> Chennai -> Kolkata -> Mumbai

The schedule is somewhat like this:

Mumbai -> Delhi on April 13th (Flight)

Delhi -> Agra on April 13th night or 14th morning. (Bus)

Agra -> Delhi on April 14th night. (Bus)

Delhi -> Bangalore on April 15th morning (Flight)

Bangalore -> Chennai on April 16th morning or Afternoon (Flight)

Chennai -> KOLKATA :-P on April 17th morning or Afternoon. (Flight)

KOLKOTA -> Mumbai  on April 19th morning (Flight) (Home Sweet Home)

I am sure about these dates, but would be able to visit other cities if I can. So please let me know if I am missing any cities and I will plan the trip around that too.

Look forward to visiting India and meeting all you lovely people. However, like I said that I have ulterior motives which I cannot disclose :-P other than this.

]]> Well, I must say that it has been the most exciting month of the year, first of all we decided to form Techie Buzz Media Pvt Ltd in near future and finally be a proper company. With 25 excellent authors, I do think that I need to have some sort of an organization where everyone is happy to be part of.

Other good news include that Techie Buzz is now regularly featured in TechMeme, which is a great honor for me as it is after all the Holy Grail of technology for many. We also got featured on the Slashdot home page, which is again a big achievement for any tech site, and were featured in Softpedia and several other high profile tech blogs. We are also part of 9Rules and Google News, phew so much more to add, but I will cut it short.

This post is not to brag about these achievements, it is to express my joy that all the hard work I have put in the last 3 and half years, and the collective effort of the Techie Buzz team in the last 9 months or so has helped us achieve so much, it is really the most exciting times for me, and probably one of the best December and Holiday season I have ever had.

I thank everyone for all the support, my friends, my Jammu and all the authors at Techie Buzz for being with me all through this. I had one promise to all my authors that we will move towards the top, and this is definitely a real awesome step towards being there.

I hope someone who is so important to me, but with whom I cannot share the happiness with reads this somehow and laughs, that will make me so much more happy.

Wish me all the luck for the future :-)
