5 May 2006I am a tabbed browser junkie, yea that's what you can call me. I totally love the hassel free and cluster free browsing that the browsers today provide, quite unlike the ealier one I used IE 6 a pain to have so many windows open at one and the navigation was just too patethic.
I do know that there was Netscape but I hated for its junk looks also Mozilla which I didn't use much earlier, but with Firefox and later IE7 and Flock I can't live with those tabbed browsers, they make my life so easier.
I thought to share some of the shortcuts which has made my life a bit easier with the tabbed browsing.
I have generalized the shortcuts into three categories Firefox and Flock only, IE7 only and all tabbed browsers.
Here are those keyboard shortcuts for all tabbed browsers
Open links in a new tab in the background CTRL+click
Open links in a new tab in the foreground CTRL+SHIFT+click
Open a new tab in the foreground CTRL+T
Switch between tabs CTRL+TAB/CTRL+SHIFT+TAB
Close all tabs ALT+F4
Close other tabs CTRL+Alt+F4
Firefox Specific Only
Switch to a specific tab number CTRL+n (n can be 1-9) (over 9 it does not work in Firefox and Flock)
Close current tab CTRL+W
IE 7 related
Open a new tab from the address bar ALT+ENTER
Open a new tab from the Toolbar Search Box ALT+ENTER
Open Quick Tabs (thumbnail view) CTRL+Q
Switch to a specific tab number CTRL+n (n can be 1-8)
Switch to the last tab CTRL+9
Mouse shortcuts
Open a link in a background tab Middle mouse button on a link
Open a new tab Double click on empty tab row space
Close a tab Middle mouse button on the tab
So here is to enjoying a better browsing experience, I couldn't cover Opera as I actually don't use it, but will try and use it soon.
Hi there. I own several blogs on the Internet, however I still love writing here, because it's my rambling space, no fear, no restrtictions. I write anything and everything here, so keep coming back. Read more about me
