Mobile Web Application Developers can now take a plunge forward. Nokia has gone open source with its WebKit for mobile browsing now you can take DHTML and AJAX to new levels with mobile browsing with Nokia'w WebKit, this will help help mobile browser developer applications create better web applications for the N60 and above series Nokia phones.
Nokia has released the source code for its S60 Webkit browser, this is the same engine that is powering their N60 series based phones.
The technology Nokia which is based on the Apple's Safari WebKit provides more enhancements for mobile browsing and allows a used to browse full Web pages on a small screen with full support for the in things of today's web world, DHTML and AJAX.
The open source WebKit is avialable under the BSD license. This will definitely help Mobile web application developers to build better and bigger applications using the latest web technologies to be easily accessed on the web.
The company says this will open the door for setting a standard and reducing fragmentation when it comes to mobile browser applications.
Nokia's E Series and N Series phones will be the first to feature the browser. Developers can access the source code through the WebKit Open Source Project .
